H4 dropbox at Toronto consulate without I539

Hello:

Me and my wife have Canadian PR.

During my last H1B renewal in late 2020, although my wife H4 was expiring in Dec 2020, we did not apply for H4 renewal since we moved to Canada and we were considering B1/B2 visitor visa for her instead. I did get my H1B visa stamp at Toronto US consulate through drop box in Aug 2021 and I am now looking to help with my wife H4 visa stamp.

My understanding is that "I539 - Application to extend/change Non-immigrant status" is NOT needed for H4 drop box in Toronto and we are eligible to apply with the primary applicants I797. Please confirm and let me know if anyone else has similar H4 renewal.

We are in Canada and submitting H1 & H4 stamping through dropbox. H1 extn processing done in Canada and so no I-539, H4 stamping based on approved I-797 of H1

Hi guys, need your help. Got H4 visa interview waiver because its my 2nd time applying for H4. Submitted my documents to Toronto Consulate through Canada Post on Dec 1st 2022. The application still shows No Status. I was wondering if anyone else submitted on or around same dates and has any update. We have to travel to India on Jan 15th and I am just nervous.

6th Feb : Mailed Documents
7th Feb : Received by the consulate , Showed "No Status on tracking DS-160"
25th Feb: Status changed to "Application Received"
28th Feb: Status - Refused (Missed out on sending my husbands appointment confirmation)
3rd March- Received an email from consulate to send the appointment confirmation for primary applicant's visa , Sent on same day (via email)
3rd March - Status- Approved
7th March - Issued


I am currently on my canadian PR. Hope this helps someone anxiously waiting for their passport!
