Hi Everyone,

Need some inputs on my situation.

1. I have a valid petition till Jan 2023 but my visa expired in April 2020 and right now i am in Boston.
2. Somehow i have managed to book visa appointment in Montreal for Jan 2021.
3. I am also a Canadian PR holder.
4. I plan to travel from Boston to Canada by car and quarantine for 14 days and then attend my interview.
5. Considering everything goes well and I get my visa stamped I would like to know the below :-

a. Will i be able to enter US (Boston) via road on the freshly stamped H1b Stamp and the petition which i obtained in June respectively?
b. Is anyone aware if US has stopped entry via land through private cars for H1B holders?

Any inputs would be appreciated?

lot of people are saying their appointments are being cancelled unless its emergency appointment. I have my h1 stamping appointment in first week of January in Vancouver. but I am not sure if they will keep the appointment. you might want to check on this too.

Are you a Canadian citizen yet? Well yeah there's always a chance to cancel the appointment.
The only thing i can do is travel prior to 14 days to satisfy the quarantine and hope for the best.
Worst case if the appointment is cancelled I wonder if i can renter US through Automatic Validation/Revalidation.

Breaking news:- Just got an email that my appointment has been cancelled :D
hahah so I think it's safe to assume they are not doing regular appointments right now until further notice. that means they will cancel my January appointment too. It was already cancelled once in October. I think I will cancel my flight tickets to Canada now lol.

But what a bunch of a**** these consulates are!! if they don't want to issue regular appointments they should not have let us schedule them in the first place. Just creating more fear and uncertainty and making immigrants life hell. Freaking morons

Btw where did you schedule your January appointment?

I am actually feeling quite relived because booking the appointment was a complete shit show.

I messed up my DS-160 , chose one location and scheduled appointment for another although i do know that we can attend any location and also present a new DS-160 but there's so much confusion in the air.

Sometimes i feel its better if things clear up and then i schedule the interview.

My appointment was in Vancouver. It's good that they cancelled your appointment in time otherwise you would have traveled there and stuck in limbo like some others on this forum have. Even I don't want to schedule this appointment right now, but i have to move to Canada by May to meet PR residency obligations.. so I am short of time

I am not sure how that works. Any ideas? I thought for such requests we need to furnish valid reasons such as traveling to home country for emergencies such as taking care of a family member or a personal reason such as wedding , death etc.

Btw I just rebooked my appointment in Toronto for October 2021.

I know its really far and also I see empty slots in Calgary and Vancouver for May 2021 but for now I am just going to take it slow and watch what happens since there's so much confusion in the air.

That is true. But few people were able to request expedite when they were here in Canada and got stuck going back to States. It worked for few back in Sept or Oct.

There is an option of entering to United States on expired visa with valid i-94 if you stay in Canada or Mexico for less than 30 days. It is called automatic revalidation. You can also check this option If you meet the requirements
