Only one profile. Depending on who has a stronger application, that person will be the primary applicant and the spouse will be the dependent. Both will receive PR though, so both are then entitled to work.

Can husband and wife apply for express entry simultaneously (to maximize the chances)? Meaning - one application where primary applicant is the husband and dependent is wife and, another where primary applicant is the wife and dependent is husband?

You wouldn't really be maximizing your chances (also I don't know what the implications are about having two profiles for 'one' applicant in the pool at the same time - CIC may not like it, but I don't know).

Your completed express entry profiles will each be given a CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) Scores, and it's these scores that determine if you get an ITA (Invitation to Apply). CIC does 'draws' once or twice a month, where they specify a minimum CRS score cut-off. Any applicant with a score at or above this cut-off gets an ITA. So, even if you decide to enter two profiles into the pool, only the profile with the higher CRS Score really matters. Assuming one or both meet the minimum cut-off, either the 'higher-scored' profile will get an ITA, or both will get an ITA. But the lower-scoring one will never get an ITA over the higher scoring one... I don't know how well I'm explaining myself here but, bottom line, it really doesn't make sense (creating both profiles is just a waste of time).

From an ethical standpoint, using your stated method could possibly be at another applicant's expense (if applicants with higher scores had multiple profiles in the pool, then applicants with slightly lower scores would be 'edged out' of draws since draws only accept a specific number of people, and CIC wouldn't be able to tell that those 'selected' profiles are actually duplicates).

Do yourself (and other applicants) a favor, and only submit one profile. Use the CRS calculation tool (see link below) and find out which primary applicant will result in a higher CRS Score, and then just go with that decision...

Masters degree is good enough since it is your highest degree.

How do I get job offer from Canada? Is it possible at all?
I don't have your profile and details but, for purposes of this answer, I'm going to assume you don't and have never lived, studied or worked in Canada and don't have Canadian work authorization...

It is highly unlikely that you will be able to get a job offer from Canada if you are not currently living there, studying there, or don't have any professional connections or networks.
  • Without work authorization, you will be considered an unattractive candidate (they'll have to do a lot of extra paperwork to hire you and then wait for your authorization to come through) as compared to a candidate in Canada who already has work authorization.
  • If you don't have any Canadian work/academic experience, employers will also be wary of you because they have no guarantee that you will understand the Canadian work environment and Canadian nuances of your profession, or that you will fit into their culture.
  • If you're not living in Canada, it means any employer who's interested in hiring you would have to conduct their selection process (tests, interviews, etc.) online and via phone/Skype/email. Face-to-face interactions are much more preferred in the recruitment process, and there are plenty of persons IN Canada that they can interview, so they're more likely to select these persons than you.

Hello all,

I have a question - After submitting the Express Entry application, can we do the editing/changes, for example - adding another WES ECA to the application for extra points?

Thanks a lot!

You can edit your Express Entry profile right up until you get an ITA. After that, any change you make could potentially be a liability if it could cause your CRS Score to drop below the minimum score that got you your ITA. Generally, it's better to make sure everything in your Express Entry profile is accurate from the get-go, just in case...

I recommend creating two EE profiles, one with husband as primary applicant and one with wife as primary applicant. Add the spouse in each as dependents - this way you can see which profile is getting highest score. Only thing is, don't accept ITA for both profiles if both profiles get selected. You can just delete the extra profile later once you get an ITA on the strongest profile, or just delete the extra profile as soon as you know which profile works best for your CRS score.

nothing wrong in having two profiles, EE profile is not an "application for PR". Your real application starts from ITA stage, just make sure nothing fraudulent is mentioned in the profiles because profiles get locked upon accepting the ITA and you cannot change any information after ITA.
