I sent email with pre-assessment form and got back email in a couple of days asking me to submit all forms incl form 009 to AINP. This was mid-Dec.
I sent all forms on Dec 30 to AINP and am still waiting for file number.

divagirl:
You mention they have started processing applications without pre-assessment - I must've missed the post. Would you know who in our forum has reported this?
Thanks.

Manny,

When did you send your appln? You say that you sent it in Dec without pre-assesment. Can you pls give the exact date when you sent, we can have that as a bookmark that they have started processing appln without pre-assesment. TIA
I think that you are the first person to send without pre-assesment (my guess). I do not know of anybody else who sent their appln in dec without pre-assesment.

How come they tell you in mid-December to submit without invitation letter and with 009. I also sent preassesment email in mid-December and got Invitation letter(without 009) in January. Then I sent back invitation letter and all docs with 003 and without 009 on Jan15.

I think AINP people messed up in Dec-Jan transition period.

Subject: RE: Alberta PNP SRS Form

Good Day;

Thank you for your interest in living and working in Alberta .

If you are a holder of a current and valid H1B, H1B1, H1C or E3 visa - you may be eligible to qualify for Canadian Permanent Residence through the Strategic Recruitment Stream - U.S. Visa Holder Category (US-SRS) pilot program recently introduced by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). You do not need a job in Alberta in order to qualify for this program.

If you are not eligible for the Strategic Recruitment Stream - U.S Visa Holder Category, you may consider coming to work as a Temporary Foreign Worker, and then being nominated for permanent residence through your Alberta Employer. We have included some general information following this email about finding a job and obtaining a temporary work permit. The Alberta-Canada Jobs website list jobs posting from employers willing to hiring foreign nationals and/or temporary foreign workers.

Most professional occupations will require the foreign worker to be assessed by the appropriate professional association.

Internationally trained engineers that want to use a professional designation in Alberta must be licensed as a Foreign Licensee (Engineering) by the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (“APEGGA”). For complete details on APEGGA licensing, see: www.apegga.org/Applicants/IEG/overview.html

APPLICATION PROCESS

The US-SRS under AINP is a different and separate process from the regular Federal Skilled Worker Permanent residence program through the Canadian Federal Government (Citizenship and Immigration Canada CIC). The AINP is a faster, more streamlined process with different and less stringent requirements than the CIC process).

There are no fees for the provincial portion of the permanent residence application, although once you apply for permanent residence with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, then you will have to play those applicable application fees.

As they are two separate processes, they will not conflict with one another. Once you receive a nomination certificate, you will have to apply for permanent residence as a provincial nominee. Any previous application for permanent residence will have to be withdrawn prior to applying through the expedited provincial nominee category.

For more information regarding the Strategic Recruitment Stream – U.S. Visa Holder Category (US-SRS), and to obtain the application form please visit http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/campaigns/h1b.html

In addition, kindly do not call or email us to check on the status of your application, as this will increase our processing times of applications. Furthermore, we do not provide status updates during normal processing times.

For more information regarding the AINP program, please visit http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/immigrate/ainp.html

Processing times

Once you have submitted your application, and a pre-assessment has bee conducted, AINP will send you a confirmation email with a file reference number, whereby they will process your AINP application. Completed AINP applications can take up to 4 months to process before a positive nomination certificate is issued.

Once you have received a positive nomination and AINP certificate, the AINP Office will instruct you on how to proceed for the second phase of the process for permanent residence, which is processed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The second phase of the process with CIC can take 6 - 12 months.

This is a different and separate process from the regular Federal Skilled Worker Permanent residence program through the Canadian Federal Government (Citizenship and Immigration Canada CIC). The AINP is a faster, more streamlined process with different and less stringent requirements than the CIC process).

There are no fees for the provincial portion of the permanent residence application, although once you apply for permanent residence with Citizenship and Immigration Canada, then you will have to play those applicable application fees.

WORKING IN ALBERTA

Although we are not able to advise of all possible Alberta employers, please find below general information on working in Alberta and sources of information through which you may be able to find a job with an Alberta employer. Please note, the type of job you are offered will affect the process you must follow to obtain a work permit. The general process to obtain a work permit is outlined below.

The first step is for you to obtain a job offer from an employer that wishes to hire you as temporary foreign worker.

Alberta Employment and Immigration does not match prospective workers with job opportunities. Temporary foreign workers must find Canadian employment opportunities independently.

For assistance in finding employment in Alberta you may wish to consult the following websites.

The employer who offers you employment must satisfy Service Canada that there are no Canadian citizens or permanent residents available to fill the position which you have been offered. If Service Canada is satisfied that there are no Canadian citizens or permanent residents available to fill the position, the position receives Service Canada's approval and they will issue a positive labour market opinion (LMO) to the employer.

After you have a job offer from an Alberta employer, the employer should forward you a copy of the Service Canada LMO and the employment contract and inform you to apply for a work permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). In most situations, a temporary foreign worker must apply for a work permit from outside of Canada . Applications for work permits can be made at a visa office at a Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate. For more information, go to CIC's website at:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp

Temporary foreign workers from some countries must also obtain a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) before traveling to Canada . Applications for TRV's must also be made at a visa office at a Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate. A list of countries whose citizens require TRV's can be found at:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

Temporary foreign workers are responsible for proving they are qualified to meet the job requirements. They must also meet CIC's requirements regarding admission to Canada including health and security checks. In some cases an immigration medical examination is required before coming to Canada . More information on immigration medical requirements can be found at:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/dcl.asp

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-temp.asp

The decision to issue a work permit is in the discretion of the CIC visa officer reviewing your application.

Please visit the following Citizenship and Immigration Canada website for more information on the immigration process once you have received a positive AINP nomination http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/index.asp

Well we all have our independent perspective of viewing the process and I don't think there is any mess. What we received in Dec depends on the person who is handling the requests. I do not find the process convoluted or confusing - may be I've gotten immune!

I think we will hear about these Dec filings in the next 10 days. Chin up and cheers...

I got the exact same mail when I had inquired on Jan 7th. When I spoke to the lady in the office, she asked me to apply by the new process. So from the mail, i followed

"Or complete the following:

Application form for Strategic Recruitment Stream - U.S. Visa Holder Category http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/media/h1b_AINP009.pdf" link and applied under the new process.

Manny,

I agree with you - there is no evidence to prove that Alberta guys "messed up" at any time.... far from it. I have never ever seen such a competent and responsive "government" office.
I am not sure if our friend here really reads the responses he gets. I have told him twice already that he has to have filled in his NOC related information very early in the process. However, he's still panicking and claiming that he has "never" sent his NOC info to AINP, and also that they "messed" up. I understand that he must be under a lot of pressure since he lost his job and all, but it is not fair to spread rumors about AINP without any substantial evidence!

Dude, I said messed up because I have seen a guy whom they told to file under new process in December itself while on the same time i applied in December and told me to file under old process.

About the competence of AINP, I think that they are much much more competent than any other US or Canadian agency.

It is okay for me to say they messed up one or two time because that's what I feel. If the process were so competent or if you would not have worried about your case, you might have been relaxing on your sofa after filing your case rather than coming to this forum everyday and checking what is going on with other people's cases.

Anyways thanks for all your help till date. I really appreciate that.

Thanks, gives me some relief. But in the email it states pre assesment so that is what is confusing.
