Hello everyone! I would like to let you know I got accepted the first part of the H&C! My time to get accepted it was for 20 days. Now im getting request for the medical exam and police certificate, proof of work, etc. I guess is the last step, hopefully it doesn’t take too long!
Good luck everyone!

Congratulations to you!!! So happy for you. Shame on those with negative energy on the platform, the “canucks” who do not have positivity in their mindsets. I wish you luck as you move on

Hi.. I am new here. I am looking to apply for my mom for permanent residency through H&C.

Our situation:
1. My sister and I are the only siblings. Both permanent residents living in Canada.
2. Dad passed away in 2015
3. Mom recently arrived in Canada in 2020 September and we were able to get her one visitor visa extension due to covid-19. But also during this time she was diagnosed with scleritis (which is an inflammation of the eye due to an underlying autoimmune disease) she has been undergoing treatment and is currently being treated by four different specialists. Her eye is fine but she is heavily medicated. The doctor did say that she will most likely need medication for at least 2 years if not three. Now we are lucky enough that her insurance is covering all these costs. But health-wise we have to monitor her medication and blood tests are conducted monthly.
4. We did apply in the 2020 pool of pgp.. no luck there. Unfortunately we can't wait any longer and are looking for other avenues.
5. As far as our situation back home goes - the contract for our apartment building went to a construction company to build a skyscraper.. this was in 2012.. everyone who lived in the apartment building along with us have been in and out of courts and the system and yet the apartment building isn't even close to complete. Which means we don't even have a physical home where my mom could go back.

We already explored the option of super Visa. She would most likely be rejected because they do consider ties to their country which is none because.

After Dad passed away she has been lonely and the only thing that kept her going was the fact that we would be reunited soon..

Would this be a good enough reason for us to apply for H&C?

Thank you in advance for your help

Really depends on her age, how well she can take care of herself, what the cost of her medical care will be, whether she can access the appropriate healthcare in her home country, whether she has family in her home country like siblings, parents or other extended family, etc. Her housing situation isn’t a huge issue. She was only coming as a visitor so needed to have a plan when she had to return when she no longer was granted extensions. Assume the plan was to rent temporarily until her new apartment was done. When does her health insurance policy end? The insurance company is unlikely to extend. If you get denied the H&C your mother will likely have trouble visiting in the future which is the risk you take with an H&C application. You haven’t even heard about the current draw to see if she gets selected.

Hi everyone.
I just needed some advice from people with similar experience. My family applied for H&C in Sep, 2020 and file started in February, 2021. Got our AIP in early May, 2021 and are waiting for final decision. How long does it usually take or took for people who applied at a similar time? The time given on the IRCC website is clearly far from accurate 'cause it says 18 to 14 months. I just want some assurance that they are working on it. Also IRCC is not answering any calls due to Afghanistan.

Hi folks,

Could you please let me know what you mean by step 1 and step 2. I am preparing the documents and planning to send it end of this month.
when I checked the fees, CIC recommends me to pay the PR application as well. Should I do that.

I believe you have strong case, do not pay attention to some negative attitude,
I had similar situation and I applied to refugee, I was accepted. While I was asking advice, I had the same negative comments

They are very different situations. Your situation changes more because you were applying for economic immigration with your husband as a primary applicant.
