I got Interim Work Authorization also though my H&C is only 9 months. I’m suspecting it’s because I became eligible for PRRA this month.

after 20 months on H&C received the notes recently , and in the app status, it previously said 'OPEN - app status reason in progress.' Now, it shows 'APP Status: On Hold, APP status Reason: Pending in CDA.' and they send me interin work autorization at this point What does this mean
I was asked to my law. He said.
The status "On Hold, Pending in CDA" usually indicates that your friend's process is on hold for some specific reason within Canada (CDA = Canada). This may happen for a few reasons, but considering that he received an Interim Work Authorization (IWA), here's what's probably happening:

What does that mean?

1. Eligibility has been approved (AIP granted)

• If he received the Interim Work Authorization (IWA), it is a strong sign that the AIP has been approved or is about to be officially issued.

• The IRCC only issues this temporary permission when there are indications that the application is heading for approval.

2. The "On Hold" status may indicate an administrative hold

• It may be that his case is waiting for the completion of some step, such as background check or final decision on the PR (permanent residence).

• This happens in some cases when the IRCC has already granted the AIP, but still needs to review documents or perform final procedures.

3. Processing time may be impacting

• As he applied 20 months ago, this is within the current average time (22 months).

• Some candidates who have already reached this period may see their case being moved to this waiting phase before the final decision.

What can he expect now?

• If the AIP was granted, he can expect to receive the official letter confirming this soon.

• If the application has already passed through the AIP, it may be waiting for the final approval of the PR.

• The status may change again to "In Progress" when the IRCC resumes the analysis.

Overall, this seems like a good sign, especially because he has received the Interim Work Authorization, which is usually only granted when there is significant progress in the case.

after AIP processing time stops? They can finalize applications whenever they feel like? Can take years? Or the current processing times listed on website should be from star to end? it’s very confusing and frustrating that people are waiting 6+ months after AIP… and they cant do anything

There is a yearly quota so they can only land so many people a year. Given the volume of applicants and small yearly quota people will be waiting longer to land.

You can try a request of “webform informations” about your aip letter. My opinion, you are so close the PR card!

I already contacted them asking if the interim work authorization is legit and was not send in error because I never had work permit and ask if the reason the file is on hold because of something they are waiting from me now waiting for the reply

If she knows how to do it She can do it
But need to remove the lawyer from the application ,she needs to understand in what stage is the application maybe at this point she's about to get the PR and the lawyer knows and he want 5k probably it's better to pay the 5k and continue . The more info you can get the information and advice we can give you we don't know the context why she went for JR why JR was approved so Manny things if you can explain more I'll be better
