I m about to send the PR sponsorship application for my spouse who is currently residing in India. In the Immigration guide they have asked for 5 digital photos + 2 additional photos and a NEGATIVE.

I BELIEVE THIS NEGATIVE IS REQUIRED ONLY FOR THE MEDICAL EXAMINATION. IS IT CORRECT? in that case, our DMP has not asked for it and she had undergone medical examination and DMP had issued copy 2 of the medical report which needs to be furnished in the application.

Is this Negative really required? I dont have it now and I m in the process of sending my application today (my wife had sent her entire application excluding the negative)!!!.. what shall I do now??? When my wife went to take the pictures, she could not find any photographer who would provide a Negative. Why is this NEGATIVE required ?? SHOULD I WAIT TILL I GET THIS NEGATIVE FROM HER? :( that will delya my application again!!

PLS HELP ME SOON.! Thanks

I don't know why it is required, and I am definitely not an expert on the New Delhi visa office requirements.

but it seems to me that if they ask for the negative, they definitely want you to send the negative.

Hi all thanks for your replies.. appreciate it!!

By the book--> So did you sponsor your spouse from Canada? Did your spouse received the PR without any request for the Negative photograph? this negative photograph requirement is stated only under the Medical examination section and I believe once when the Medical is done with out this Negative, shouldn't it be fine? (Medical is done and the copy 2 of the medical is issued to my wife to enclose in the application). I read somewhere that this Negative is required only in case if the digital X ray is not available or so?

It is lot confusing why on the earth do they need a negative when everything is digitalized!

Look to hear from you guys

best wishes

Here is a thread where some people applying through India were discussing the negative:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t44308.0.html

It seems some people sent in their application without the negative, and the file was still processed.
Who told you it was an old requirement, and that the negative was no longer needed? If it was the DMP, then maybe it is OK to not have it. You could try phoning the CIC call centre and asking them.

Hi Canadainwomen

thanks ofr the response. My wife confirmed with the DMP before getting an appointment. She clarified with DMP if a negative is required. The DMP said NOT REQUIRED.

Is it fine in my case then? My only question is if the EMBASSY NEEDS it for anything..

I am in Canada and my husband is in New Delhi. However, he did his medical in Ludhiana.

I read the thread that was just posted and its interesting that some actually sent in a negative. I only sent in 6 pictures as requested by the checklist.

As for the medical report, I sent in Copy 2 of the form which had his picture on it with my application. I have no idea what kind of x-rays he had done. If you are still interested, I could ask.

Where is it written that it is 5+2+a negative?

Don't worry about it. I found it.

I was acutally looking into whether the guide had been updated or not in the last few months. All I can say is my experience showed that you don't need it. And if your DMP said the same thing, then I guess you are okay to submit the application without it.

Good Luck!

Guys I just called the CIC CALL CENTRE AGENT. This is what she said:

1. She dont think that Negative is mandatory. Further she says that if the DMP tells it is not required then she dont see any reason why it is required. She also said that Embassy as such does not require the Negative. It is only for Medical practitioner for medical examination.

2. Regarding the Client ID number on the receipt- She said it is the 8 digint number which is found on the PR card. The only reason they ask for the ID number is to identify the person when it comes to refunding the money.

Hope it helps for all others who have/had similar question.,.

The negative is NOT required by the DMP. You need 5 photos when you attend your medical exam, but you do not need the negative. See page 6 of the Immigrant's Guide which explains what you need to bring with you to your appointment with the DMP:

"•Appendix C
•Passport and photocopies of the biographical data pages (this is the page that shows the date of birth, the country of origin, etc.)
•If no passport is available, provide an official identity document bearing a photo and the date of birth of the family member
•Eye glasses or contact lenses
•Previous medical reports, prescriptions or treatments
•5 recent photos, taken within six months preceding the date of your examination
•Immigration client identification number (ID #), if known"

The negative, is however, a requirement of your application form which will be forwarded to the New Delhi CHC. See page 7 of the Guide to Immigrating:

"Persons living in the countries listed below must also provide a negative and two photos (See Photo Specifications section within this document) for themselves and each family member: Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam."

The CIC call centre agents are often not familiar with the requirements for specific visa offices, so personally I wouldn't go by what they say. My husband applied through New Delhi and we included the negative and our application was processed very quickly. I would think that if they no longer wanted a negative to be included with your photos that they would amend the instructions. That's easy enough to do. I'm also guessing that they want the negative because it's pretty easy to alter a digital photo with software, so I think they want to be able to compare the original negative to the photo to make sure it hasn't been altered. They've probably just had problems with those particular countries in the past.

It seems that other people's cases have been processed without the negative, but who's to say that you will be that lucky as well. Maybe you will get lucky, or maybe you will get a picky visa officer who will notice that you have not included it. As it stands now, it is a requirement of applications from the above listed countries so I would personally try to avert any delay to your application and just follow the instructions provided.

Hi Ariell and others thanks for the response

I called the Diagnostic centre where my wife underwent her medical examination and they have responded the same -NO NEGATIVE is required. Previously they used to ask for a Negative but not anylonger it seems.. I further confirmed with her if the Embassy needs it after all. She said NO. It was previously required for medical examination but now since she has done her X ray examination, it is not required any more. Just an X ray is sufficient it seems. They never asked my wife for the Negative when she went for Her medicals. She was given the Copy 2 of the medical report to enclose in the application and was told that everything is fine and her documents will be mailed to the embassy.

Well she had undergone her medical examinations already and her file has been sent to the embassy. I just hope that it is not REQUIRED. If it is really the case we dont have other alternative but to get one and send it.

Any others who had experienced this situation can tell about it?

Appendix B
Photo Specifications
Notes to the applicantTAKE THIS WITH YOU TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER
•Immigration photos are not the same as passport photos.
•Make sure that you provide the correct number of photos specified in this guide.
Notes to the photographer
The photos must:
•show a full front view of the person's head and shoulders showing full face centered in the middle of the photograph;
•have a plain white background;
be identical (black and white or colour) produced from the same untouched negative, or exposed simultaneously by a split-image or multi-lens camera.

So they pretty much say the photos must not even be digital ?
