You can get your SIN (social insurance number) the same day you go into a Service Centre in your area. Once you receive this number, you can apply for any job.

Rachel, there is no need to get depressed yet. My ECAS changed 24 days after my file was transferred. Mind you, I would not depend on it too much. Ours still shows In-Process even though we received the visa 2 days ago. It will happen very soon.
