Hi Guys,

I've been trying to search for prospective employers online and asking for a positive LMO.
I just want to know if it's possible for me to be approved with a working permit or visa if I have limited experience on the position I am applying for.

Say I only have 9 months experience as a food counter attendant and that was also 2 years ago.
Will I be denied because of that? but I've been employed on a different field (sales) up until now.

the reason why Im asking is that I was told that the canadian embassy will just deny my application since Food counter attendants
require minimum of 2 years experience.... =(

Thanks in advance who ever is answering :)

Tough question.

Chances are if it is stated as a minimum requirement you will not be able to get your permit. It will probably be denied.

It would likely prove harder to find a job without status in Canada though, so I would suggest work the extra time to get the experience in the mean time while finding that job.

Good luck

Hi Netmecca,

Thanks for responding. What does 'find a job without status' means exactly? sorry for being ignorant lol.

Yeah, the one who told me works with an agency so it's true most likely. Bummer, I think I would need to find jobs that does not require extensive experience. Any suggestions, if you know some?

Thanks again for taking the time =)

Hi

Without status means you are not able to legally work in Canada.

In order to find a job in Canada, (and get you legal status -work permit of PR) your employer will have to prove that you are not taking a job of a Canadian. This means if there is another qualified person in canada, that applies for the job , you will likely fail.

If you are serious about coming to Canada I would suggest that you have a look at all the immigration options on the CIC website, decide which one gets the closest you meeting what you can offer, and then set up and work a plan to meet the requirements, until you do, and apply then.

I first considered moving to Canada in 1996 and did not qualify, I gave up then, but continued to check in. I was finally able to meet requirements and landed in 2009.

I love it here and will be calling it home for time to come.

Good luck :)
