Hi Everyone. My parents are in India and I want to invite them for my convocation. I completed Masters in Engineering at UBC and UBC did not hold in person convocation yet due to COVID. They emailed me that they will eventually organize an in-person ceremony but the date is not decided. So my questions are as follows:

1. Should I apply my parent's file now without exact dates?
2. My brother is also in Canada. Do we need to provide his status documents and passport as well?
3. Are visas actually being approved for this purpose now a days especially considering India's COVID situation.
4. Should I be the only person writing invitation letter for my parents or my brother as well (He does not have convocation)

Are they fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine in Canada?

1) Give estimate dates
2) If both you and your brother made the invitation
3) You can try, espcially if they fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine
4) Up to you.

So estimation for next convocation would be next may but they haven't officially announced next date

Do you want to wait until they make the official announced date?
I'm just not sure if it's safe to apply without a date given by university. I mean as a proof we give invitation letter. If we have to provide something from university then I think its not safe to apply now.

Its just about having a solid reason of travel. Right now I'm not sure of what is the acceptance rate of visitor visas but my guess is its low

Would personally wait until September when travel rules are relaxed.
