No, unfortunately we haven't gotten the passport request yet but hopefully soon. We do have similar timelines so I would think that we may get a passport request next month as we were about a month after you for getting approval for sponsorship. Did you get notified when they started processing your application?

P.s. My husband is from El Salvador too :)

hello dakonej,

I wasn't allowed to send you a private message, so I hope this information is usefull. My husband is salvadoran with a Canadian citizenship, as well as our sons.
We sent everything together, we made a big package of documents.

With the applications, we send:

Original birth certificates from me and our children, translated and a lawyer certification of the translation
Our wedding certificate
Police record from PNC
Certification of Centros Penales, easier than PNC
My husband and my university and MBA Diploma
Letter in english of some close friends that can certified our relationship
Pictures year by year of our family, in holidays, with friends, relatives, etc My husband made like a collage with pictures and a description of them with dates.
Complete medical exams.
My husbands divorce certificate, he was previously married.
Emails between you two with dates or some love letters with date.

I don't remember what other documents are required in the application.
I was very specific providing details of our relationship, our wedding ceremony, how I met my husband, etc. because I wanted to minimize any doubt of our relationship if they can have any.

Be very carefull with your lifetime description, so that you do not have any gaps of years or months in the application.
Always tell the truth.

My husband is in Canada and we hire some lawyers. They submitted everything to Misissauga so we can start the sponsorship process. After we got the sponsorship approved, the Mississauga office sent everything to guatemala. We received a notification that our application was received and then they sent an email asking for my passport so I deliver it personally.

I don't know if an interview is going to be necessary, but I if it is, I think it will be better to do everything in Guatemala because in El Salvador, they only transcript the interview and send it to Guatemala. Guatemala does all the process, El Salvador can receive the papers but they are sent to Guatamala.

I hope this can help. Sent everything together, and be very consistent with your lifetime.

Paola

Thank you, Paola for your thorough description!!

I am confident that our case is solid but one cannot help feeling nervous about providing consistent and relevant documentation to prove it. I do appreciate you taking the time to tell about your own experience.

One of my biggest concern is what to show to demonstrate that I'll be relocating to Canada when my wife lands. This is proving to be the most complicated for me since I have no job offers or leases to show, so I'm collecting copies of the communications I've had with employers or landlors to show that I'm in fact taking steps to prepare for my return.

Anyway, I'll probably be bugging you often to ask some questions that may put some light into the other parts of the process.

So congratulations on your success so far and good luck with the rest of the application.

Anybody in this thread has any updates with their applications?

I'm anxious to see how Guatemala VO is handling their app load....

Please post your updates and share your experiences or views in general!

Thanks.

I just called in today and the secretary left a note on the immigration officer who is taking care of my file and told them that my husbands medicals are going to expire august 10 2011 and that they will contact me soon to let me know what is going on with my case. I am hoping for some good news and soon :D
