GST/HST credit: Date of entry into Canada?

Some info about me: I came to Canada as an international student in May 2006, got my PR and landed in Mar. 2015. I've been reporting my tax evey year.

Recently I got a letter from CRA saying there are 2 "immigration dates" on my account, the one in May 2006 and the other in Mar. 2015. It requests me to confirm my "original date of entry into Canada" to process my GST/HST credit.

It also requests me to submit all absence from Canada after my original date of entry.

I am very confused about this. Which date do they mean?

I would send them a letter stating that your first entry as an international student has been 2006 + month + day and that on 2015 + month + day you became a PR (your SIN changed!).

And I would write down all the dates when you left Canada (+ came back) after your first entry (all the way from 2006 to now).

Send your phone number as well and ask them to just give you a call if they need to talk to you. Did that a while ago and it worked out pretty good.

Hi,

Would you mind sharing your letter?
I received a letter from CRA where my date of entry in Canada is wrong.
I have an OWP but when I arrived in Canada I had a SP.

Thank you
