Group of Five Refugee Sponsorship from Turkey

Hi all,
My family member has just arrived in Turkey from Afghanistan and we want to sponsor through G5.
Do you know what documentation is needed as the proof of refugee status in Turkey?
Are they currently issuing UNHCR documents or the Turkish government is issuing anything that can be used for G5.
Is the one year resident permit necessary for G5 or it will affect negatively for the sponsorship? Please help me if you know.

You cant sponsor without an RSD from UNHCR under G5. And as far as I know, UNHCR stopped issuing RSD in turkey. You will have to find a SAH organization to sponsor your family

I have no idea about the government issuing RSD. As they are already in turkey, it would be better if you could ask them to check around.

All refugee claims are handled by the Turkish Government. For group of 5 you need the Kimlik ( Refugee Ikama) to apply. Else you can find SAH to do that without any registered status.

Thanks. They are about to get kimlik. Are you sure I can privately sponsor via G5 by only kimlik?

Remember, there are many types of Kimlik. That has to be refugee kimlik, not touristic kimlik, for the G5.

As far as I know , having only kimlik is not enough. at least they have to get approval by turkish government that their refugee claim is accepted after first interview.

That is what I am thinking too. Kimlik looks like a registration not a full refugee status granted. There should be interviews or some sort of assessment before getting a refugee status unless IRCC is accepting the kimlik for Afghans now after the Taliban take over? Do you know if that is the case?

I'm not sure about this you have to ask but most people in tutkey has kimlik so if it was the case , then they could get to third country easily. Before 2018 , UN was giving refugee statuse after first interview and I think same thing happens with turkey government.

hi zm7, i hope your family reached to their destination, i wanted to ask about the kimlik issue, is it okay if the applicant has a turkey gov kimlik without giving the interview with unhcr.
