I worked on our application for 6 months .Looked at it every day. Thought i had it all covered then read a post about declaration form , did one for my husband , but not for the non accompany child .We all make mistakes we aren't robots. I look at the forums and some answers and i think that is a bloody rude response . I honestly think that if you can't answer with some compassion don't bother at all . Oh and the other thing i really hate is when people give you a poor rating . If you don't like the response move on don't rate nasty .

In a public forum you will have good and bad (like the real world). Just need to shrug off the bad.

And the rating system (Good/Bad), yeah a bit ridiculous to gave a bad rating because the post is not what you want to hear. I don't take it seriously. I mean even some of the most helpful seniors on this forum have gotten bad ratings so you know it is a bit meaningless.

I try to remember to drop a "good" rating on those I see who offer solid advice often. I do give a "bad" rating on very rare occasions to those who I feel give very, very bad advice. Not, "I'm sorry, I think you might be mistaken," but, "You're stating - as FACT - things that are just straight up untrue." I think the rating system is there for a reason. You can pretty quickly see who's absolutely not to be trusted on here. Sure, even helpful seniors have some negatives, but I find the ratios of good to bad ratings pretty clear and helpful.

Don't feel bad! Here's my own experience:

When filing the application for my common-law partner, we *somehow* did not understand that the fees are over $1000. I thought that we only had to pay the "sponsorship fee" of $75! How innocent I was... I guess we were so busy working on the application that we figured the payment was the easy part. Anyway they contacted us about three-four weeks after receiving our file, to say that we had not paid the entire fees and that we had six weeks to do so or else they would send back our file. This was confusing so I came to this board where I realised what a horrible mistake we had made. We paid right away, obviously. And they even let us file the new receipt by email (scanned) rather than making us send it by post. And when I think about it, we were really lucky because in theory they could have just sent everything back to us without taking the trouble to inform us in what way our file was incomplete, leaving us to agonize for hours and hours over where we went wrong...

So take heart! From this personal experience I believe they DO take pity on mistakes if they are easy to correct.

For reference we are applying outland so it was at Mississauga that this happened.

I agree that the ratings are helpful and there for a reason. I have given bad ratings to people that have repeatedly posted completely wrong information and refused to own up to their bad advice.

If I was new to the forum and someone had a +18 rating, I would be likely to trust their advice; however, if I checked their profile and saw that they also had a -22 rating, I would be less likely to trust what they said and wait for more opinions.

I wouldn't freak out over it too much. I am sure you are not the only one that have done this. Since you have not made any post as to whether you applied inland or outland.

If you applied inland, which is Vegreville, I can sure CIC will default your application to Vegreville office for processing.

If you applied outland, I am "guessing here" assuming it will go to the VO based on the applicant's home country USA, in your case, Ottawa.

If you want to feel better, wait until you get your AOR and then resubmit the format with the processing office filled with an explanation of your honest and overlooked mistake. I am sure they will direct the application to it proper location.

Actually, inland applications go to CPC Mississauga now, not Vegreville.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, or off topic, but how do you rate someone?

On the left hand side under their picture (or yours) you will see good/poor. If you hit good they get another number. If you see mine I am at +7 and you have +2. I am not sure what happens with poor though

Thanks!
I guess I have to be on the forum longer, or post more. I can't see it.

Lol well if people want to lie on their application and then whine about being caught I don't have much patience.

Or let's start 5 threads in 2 days asking the same thing

Or if they think cheating is abuse and enough to let them keep their PR after 2 months

Or if they want to whine about Canada not paying their health care bills before they are a PR..

Then yea might have pissed some people off lol
