My grandmother have been denied for a sponsorship application back in 2014, we waited for 5 years for that.Since than she applied for visitor visa for my graduation, my child birth and my sister child birth, all denied for weird reasons. Most common reason is that she has no intention to return back and because she has a stronger tie in Canada. I feel stuck, we are thinking of doing supervisa now.

But she does not want to live here. She hates winter, she just want visit us time to time. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Do you think supervisa is the only option? If so how much income do I need to have?

Please share your thoughts and experience.

Thank you!

Re: Grandmother denied for sponsoring, denied for visitor visax3 any hope?

She will still have to demonstrate strong ties to her home country when applying for a super visa. So it's quite possible she may again be refused for the same reasons. Having said that, you can certainly give it a try.

How much income you need will depend on the number of members in your family. You will need to count yourself, your spouse (if you have one), your minor children (if you have any) and your grandmother. Income amounts can be found here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5256ETOC.asp#incometables

Hi Scylla, thank you for your help.
But she is 78 years old what ties can she proof? We showed her huge bank account but it was useless. She has a partner, that's all.

Does she have any property in her name?

Yes, she has a house, we added that too. I think we initially tried to sponsor her, that's the problem they probably think we still want to keep her here. But she has religious ties in India its impossible to find in Canada.

Did you show those ties somehow? Explain exactly that (assuming you didn't already), that she did want to immigrate but things changed and she now just wants to visit her family.

Why was she denied sponsorship in the first place? I'd address the reason for that as well, to allay their "fears". Cover all your bases. Obviously money isn't the problem here. It's even good to explain she found she does not like the cold and doesn't want to live her golden years in the snow.

Feeling grateful for all the help here.

I think I would call my MP's office if I was in your situation. Perhaps time to reach for some support from your government representative,
your Member of Parliament.

Immigration lawyers are expensive, I don't know if you want to consider one, and whether they would help, but if I were in your position
I would be considering whether there is expert legal advice available, and, reaching out for support though my MP. Perhaps the MP can check with Immigration and give you more information as to why your g/mothers applications are rejected and what it would take to get approved.

I wish you Good Luck.

Hi Bethany,

I appreciate your insight. I think I should do that. Probably get a letter from MP confirming my grandmother will not be seeking permanent residence status here. Also, the last visitor visa was applied with one of the well known immigration lawyer from Toronto, it didn't work either.

Many thanks!

@Kindness101 merry Christmas where are you from originally, but why too much trouble from Cic

A letter from an MP is a waste of time.

You should apply for GCMS notes to see the detailed reasons behind the refusals.

Hi Canuck in uk

Is the GCMS notes is the retailed reasons for refusal for Visitor visa? If so than we got that and they had about 3-4 reasons. I will outline them here when I find the letter. Thank you for your concern.

Also, am I allowed to appeal a denied sponsorship from 2014? Is it too late?

I second this comment. If her visa is being refused for lack of ties to her home country, a letter from MP won't do anything. Not saying this is the case with BethanyM but I'm seeing a lot of people contacting MPs for reasons that have nothing to do with CIC not doing their job.

The rejection letter issued by CIC and GCMS notes are different things. GCMS notes have to be requested separately through a freedom of information request and include all comments from the immigration officer on your mother's application. When you order the notes, you will know exactly what criteria your mother did not satisfy to get her visa approved.
