Hello all,

I need to clarify this because it is rather of a confusing topic on the CECs forums. I have basically gotten my Bachelors degree from a Canadian university, and then started my Masters degree enrolled as a full time research assistant in a hospital getting T4 slips etc. I already applied for CEC using my first year as work experience, which it is document with references from the HR department stating I worked 1950 hours as an RA (NOC 4122). I applied as a graduate since I already did get my educational experience, and now working on my work experience. As far as I know there is no where that states you can't study and work under your PGWP ( I have both a student permit and PGWP). Additionally, the one year work was obtained under my PGWP. Given all facts, I think that this one year should count as full time work experience correct?

Thanks for the clarification :)!

If your position as an RA is part of your graduate program, you need a valid student visa to be authorized to perform the work. Since you have this, you should be fine, for your work experience.

Hopefully, the letter of employment you have states the number of hours worked per week...

Finally, about your qualifying education, you have at least 2 years of full time study in Canada along with the BA, right? If yes, you should be fine...

Hey jess,

Thanks for the reply. My Bachelors is 4 years of full time education so it does fulfill the educational requirement. The letter has the total amount of hours worked for a year ( 1950 hours) which is fulltime hours ( 37.5 hours/week) + statutory holiday etc.

See section 6 on the document checklist -

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5610E.PDF

It states the required information for letters of employment, including " number of hours worked per week," and exact start and end dates - they will do the calculations themselves.

If you don't give the information as requested, you may have difficulties...
