Dear friends

With the latest declaration of Canada’s Minister of Immigration, John McCallum that the Government of Canada has frequently expressed its intention to ease the pathway to permanent residence for international students in Canada,

Do we still require solid grounds that we should return to our home country when the Canadian Government is encouraging students to stay and put the knowledge learned to the service of the Canadian people.

Your views will be very much appreciated.

Yes - it's absolutely still a requirement to demonstrate strong ties to your home country to be approved for a study permit. The latest announcement doesn't change anything with regards to that.

Thanks Scylla for confirmation.

But does it not look a contradiction. The Govt encourages students who did their studies in Canada to apply their PR and at the same time you have to provide strict to your homeland.

Anyway this new measure is something good.

That's really always how it's been. And yes - it's a contradiction.

My case is very tricky and I do hope i have some luck.

I am in Canada and I have a PR.

But i wont meet the RO till 2018 and my PR card is expired.

My wife is trying to come through a student visa, she already got a college but i wonder if CIC will be convinced.

Since she is the unique child and lives with her mother.

I hope her visa request is accepted.
