Government Shutdown in the US

Hello,
So, there has been a lot of talk in the last few weeks of a government shut down. There's a lot of talk but no one seems to really think it's going to happen, however, no one thought Newt would do it in Clinton's administration and he did. My question is, if the government DOES shut down, which again, doesn't seem to likely to happen, will it slow down the applications of people going through the Buffalo office? Are employees and IOs at the Buffalo office technically Canadian government employees, US, or both?

Everyone employed by the consulate would be in the employ of the Canadian Government.

That said, the United States Postal Service is in the employ of the US Government. You won't want anything "stuck" in the mail system if they stop working!

I don't recall the USPS shutting down in 1995. However, processing of U.S. passport applications and FBI background checks will probably be affected.

I won't worry about any shut down until it really happens, we are all stressed out enough, don't give yourself anymore than absolutely necessary. As far as I know, the USPS is an independant entity not in the employ of the gov't. I hope this helps.

Of course the crazy question would be,... If they did shut down, would anyone notice ;D ;D
