Your consultant doesn't know what he's tallking about.

You will be responsible for finding a job yourself.

You will be responsible for finding housing and paying for it.

Sounds like false advertising to me. In Canada, nobody is responsible for arranging housing and job for you except yourself. If you applied through PNP with a job offer, you can of course start that job but your employer has no obligations to you either. If you are not a good worker, they can lay you off within the probation period and if they are slow on work, you may not even get to start the job.

At http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/ you can see updated processing times for immigration. Right now, they are saying 105 days for a new PR card.

In SK, you can apply for a health card right away. You may have to prove that you live in SK, for example by showing mail sent to you at an SK address so you may have to wait until you have such mail.

With a health card, you get health care benefits, such as going to the doctor or hospital without having to pay.

thanks.you mean hospital treatments, medicine, doctor fee etc free?
Medication is not free, dentist is not free and ambulance is not free but it is common to have extra insurance through your employer.

I've been living in SK since 3 years now and believe me whatever your consultant(agent) said was all lies. When you become a PR you have to show sufficient funds. So the govt. is assuming that even if you cannot find a job, you will still be able to support yourself and family. There are some programs like RODS(Regina Open Door Society) which helps newcomers to settle down. They can help you with your language proficiency and other minor stuff. But that's about it. They can help you find a rental place, but you will have to pay rent which can vary from area and accommodation you chose. Medicines, Dental coverage can either be bought privately or is usually covered by the employers. There are employment agencies and other assistance which can "guide" you through the process of getting a job. So honestly speaking there is nothing for free. I personally have never had a penny from the govt. But if you are determined to work hard, opportunities are endless and moreover once you work here and settle down, you can start contributing towards the community in whatever little ways you can. Good luck for your future!
