I posted this in a more general forum without much interest. I'm reposting here.
Question: upon receipt of the CoPR letter can there be a trip made to Canada without going through the "landing" process? We don't want to "land" at this time.
I recently received the CoPR letter (confirmation of approval for PR) based on spousal sponsorship. Spouse and I live in the USA. The notice came sooner than expected and a bit of a surprise. We had planned a trip to Canada in August for a family visit ...the uncertainty due to the pandemic for the past 18 months has already delayed these plans and we weren't even certain that travel would be possible in August, 2021.
Point is I am uncertain that I want to become "landed" on this trip; there is a lot of complex financial issues to sort out and this likely is not going to get done by the time of our planned trip. Can landing be postponed for another trip?
