Hi,
I just flagpole to extend my PGWP today, so I want to share my experience.
- Every single advice on the first post is valid. It really helps me through my process.
- I flagpole at Regway, Saskatchewan, Sunday afternoon.
- I have completed a degree which is a 2 years program, so I was entitled to a 3 years PGWP. However, I only got a PGWP with only 1 year duration since my old passport will expire next year.
- I applied and got a new passport. Then I came to the port with all supporting documents: old passport, new passport, PGWP, study permit, documents from school that prove my completion of study and the duration of the program.
- The officer first refused to extend my PGWP. He told me that I should apply to cic unless I have an urgent reason. I succesfully convinced him that I do have one. I got a job offer that asks for a two years contract. The start day will be the next two week. If I can't prove that I am able to work in Canada for two years, I can't work for that company. If I apply to cic, the processing time is around 4 months. The officer agreed with my explanation and proceeded to give me a new PGWP, which last for 3 years.
- I have to pay 255$ again.
Hope this helps anyone who is in the same situation.
