Got passport request, but CIC account remains being processed, is it normal?

Hi guys, I received the email asking me to send my passport, after 8 month's excruciating wait.. But my excitement turned to confusion after I logged in to my CIC account and it still says We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you.

Is it normal or the email just a false notice?
