I faced the same issue in my country. Only USD demand drafts. I then tried to re-route via the US, but even the banks in the USA (Chase, BofA) and Western Union there not issuing anything in CAD. I then got ITA so I'm out of the PNP leagues but I feel your pain. Some countries just can be stubborn about this matter. Consider my country, for instance, which does not allow outward transaction in foreign currencies unless within a very narrow set of exceptions....and guess what, PT letter from Ontario DOES NOT count among them - the banks told me to provide proof that I am either a permanent resident of Canada OR that I am applying for such a visa, which I am not with OINP.nreilly said:How did you guys do to pay the 1500 fee? I'm having problems with banks in my country
I was really surprised that the major banks/transfer agents in the U.S. refused to issue cashier's check/money order/bank draft in CAD (they said they will issue equivalent in US$). I'm not in the U.S. right now so maybe the person who asked on my behalf did not ask specifically enough, or maybe misunderstood what the bankers said. But still, it should be relatively painless to send bank drafts from the U.S. to Canada in CAD, one would think.
Anyone with solutions to this issue, please help OP above out. Any ideas on how to pay the fee when banks in home country refuse to issue drafts in CAD?
