Dear friends,

My timelines are given in my signature block. I flew from New Delhi to New Jersey over the weekend. Reached NYVO at 08:30 AM / 5 March along with their permission letter to appear in person to get my visa. I was called to submit my passport + 4 pictures and PPR mail at 09:30 AM and asked to collect my PP at 01:00 PM. Finally, got my visa +COPR at 02:00 PM. Returning to Delhi tomorrow and planning to land in Toronto on 15/16 April 2012.

Best wishes to every one here with their process.

Cheers..

Hi,

We need to write an email request to the NYVO after receiving the PPR from NYVO,they will review and send the email confirmation to allow the applicant for PP submission & pickup in-person. This confirmation email is mandatory to enter into the consulate.

Hope this answers u r query.

Thanks

Thank you very much for the information. Its a great relief for us and also for many friends who are in the same situation. You are doing a great job.

One more question: How did you request NYVO about getting your visa in person?

God Bless.

congratz vermas!!

I sent mail to NewYork-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca

This is what I wrote initially. On getting positive response, I asked for permission to appear on 5 March which was provided by e-mail. I took this to security there and they provided me access to the waiting room and a token number.

Dear Visa Officer,

First of all, I wish to thank you and the CIC for my visa approval and sending passport request.

As notified earlier by e-mail and through updated documents, I am currently residing in New Delhi India. It is illegal to mail passports from India therefore Indian postal service or courier companies will not accept to send the passports out of the country.

I, therefore request you to grant me permission to appear "In Person" in the first week of March 2012 at the New York Consulate to get my visa endorsed.

If permission is granted, please advise convenient week days and time for me to be there.

Also, please confirm that if I submit my passport at 08:00-08:30AM, I can get my passport back on the same day to enable me to make my travel and stay arrangements accordingly.

Yours sincerely,
