They never said 8 months, and he applied from UAE where it takes more time than US. 6-12 months processing time is for those who qualifies under the new 38 list.

Under the old skilled worker it has been taking up to 6 years from some countries. 3 years would be standard for the London office. 19 months was standard for the US but these timelines only apply to those who applied under the old rules. The new rules, nobody knows.
