Inam congratulations on your visa. You were one of the most deserving guys, still it was a tough road for you. My wishes are with you.

Regarding transiting in europe, I would advice you NOT to do it. I have traveled to Latin america / Carribean Islands and to Euorpe and I think you might face some problems by travelling via this route.

The airline counter may stop you from boarding the flight as you don't have a european transit visa. Plus the FIA guys can be a handful too.

Its your decision but having faced the difficulties myself I would suggest you to take the dubai or london route. It would be much safer . Also since you are traveling for the first time, you shouldn't take any chances!

Bon voyage and happy journey :)

I have emailed them last night about the query. They were not reachable on phone today. I have already bought a ticket via Frankfurt the travel agent told me if you have US/Canada visa then it's not a problem. He said it's not his first time selling this ticket.

I will also try tomorrow to connect with the embassy and will update you then.

NO non no no no ,,,,its never a problem. He gonna stay in airport for a few hours. AS long as you are in airport, waiting for change of airline, and not going out of the airport then you don't need a transit visa.Im 100% sure about this.

Dear Friend, a fellow in engineer here :) I am also in Offshore Oil & Gas / Marine sector. I incidentally have never flown to north america but have been other places pretty much.

So Inam would be holding a visa for Canada which would not require him to apply for an airside transit in schengen state.
Since he will not encounter any officials in germany that wont be such a big problem. But the Emirates airline counter in Khi or the FIA might stop him from boarding the flight because they might not be aware of this exception.

I was once stopped from boarding the flight to Sao paulo from Singapore even though I had a airside transit visa in London. But since the airline couter staff was not familiar with the types of visas. I made a hell lot of a noise and was finally able to get on the plane, but it was touch and go.

For most students it is the first time flying overseas and facing immigration authorities, so why not take an alternative route. This route is possible but why take the risk ?

Please be safe and may god bless you :)

Kindly take a look at the link in the wikipedia article,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_in_the_European_Union#Airport_transit

Quote from the article:

"At present, citizens of the following 12 countries are required to hold an airport transit visa (ATV) when transiting through any airport in the Schengen Area, Bulgaria, Cyprus or Romania, even they remain airside."

Airside transit is if you only change planes and never cross the immigration.
Land side transit if when you have to change airports, (for example, in London I usually have to change from Hethrow to Gatwick to fly to St Lucia etc )

Another link:
http://www.immihelp.com/visas/germanytransitvisa.html

(This one says that if you have residence permit in Canada then you wont need a airside transit visa. But this is not the case here. )

Hey Inam!.. Did you get the Frankfurt Airport Transit Visa thing checked?
bazinga07 said:
Alright, let me know!
@ bazinga07:

I have tried over and over again to connect with German embassy in Pakistan in order to seek clearance on the issue of ATV and fortunately, they picked my call today. However, all I got from them was that I should check their website as every thing is mentioned there.

I rechecked the website and surprisingly I have found some new addition to the EXCEPTION of ATV. Here I quote the exceptions:

"However, as a Pakistani national you do not require an airport transit visa, if

- you have a visa or residence permit of a Schengen country or
- you have a permanent residence permit of Andorra, Canada, Japan, Monaco, San Marino or United States of America or
- you have a visa of Irleland, UK, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Japan, Canada or the United States of America or
- you are a family member of an EU-citizen or
- you hold a Diplomatic passport."
Source:
http://www.pakistan.diplo.de/Vertretung/pakistan/en/04__Visa__Passport__Legal/1__visa__shortterm/4__Transit__visa__Seite.html

If you remember, we have had the same discussion on your post about 2 weeks ago and at that time I have posted the above link. At that time the point pertaining to Canadian visa was not mentioned. I think now we can conclude that we would not require ATV for Germany if we hold a Canadian visa and transit the mentioned airports in the specific allotted times.

BR,
Inam

Well your current IELTS score doesn't meet most of the universities' requirements and therefore, they will not give you admission without proving english proficiency.

Yes, UofA has the exception for some universities in Pakistan so if you fall in that category then you won't need IELTS to apply for U of A (I am not sure about UofR, you should check)
