I just received my permanent residence. I would like now to apply for my wife and son. How long will the whole process take?

Mjsantos

Where they included on the original application? Did the Medicals? We need more details. What country are you from ect.

They were included but my wife could not land on the day she should. There were some emergencies back home and she could not land. I landed alone. We are from Brazil but we current live in the US.

if they were included they supposed to have their visa if not did u declare them as non-accompanying members? and they supposed to have medicals too even if they are not accompanying members. how long have you been here in canada? i assumed you are from the phillippines because of your last name am i correct? the processing time in manila was 9 months but you can get within 3months if you completed the requirements. we need more details to help you.

Hi mjsantos you are correct that you will have to sponsor your family again because they didn't land and their visas expired. As a permanent resident you'll have to be residing in Canada in order to submit the application. So once you move yourself here you can sponsor them. I imagine they will have to redo their Medicals and police certificates for your wife and children over 18 will need to obtained again. You'll send the application to Mississauga and from there it will transferred to either Sao Paolo, Brazil. The processing time is around 10 months max but many would get through in less time.

Is your family currently living on the United States or Judy visiting?

We currently live in the US. We are originally from Brazil, but we current live in the US.

You may be able to process through Buffalo if your family has been admitted into the Us legally for one year but you as the sponsor must be living in Canada.

if his family already has a visa before then expired they should have to go to the nearest immigration and have them renew. my friend left his 1 year old baby and the visa was expired then after a year he renew the baby's visa no medical and evrything it takes 3 or 6 months i think.

Yes I guess it would have to depend on how long ago the visas expired. It was my understanding if you didn't land in Canada by the expiry date on the visa it became invalid.

my friend's daughter has 1 year expired visa before she renew it here in canada. mjsantos might seek help to the nearest immigration office so he will know what is better thing to do.
