Got my IELTS results - Overall 5.5, Am I eligible?

I got below score in IELTS -

Listening: 5.0
Reading: 5.5
Writing: 5.0
Speaking: 7

Overall: 5.5

Can I apply for experienced class skill level A?

Do the pre-assessment and calculate the points....

You can go for higher band as well to increase your points...

As per the CIC website, one should meet the below requirement when applying for skill level 0 or A.

 are all 7 or higher, or
 are 6 for any one ability, 7 or higher for any
other two, and 8 or higher for the remaining
ability.

As per below table -

0, A 7 6.0 6.0 6.0 6.0
0, A, B 6 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0
B 5 4.5 4.5 4.5 4.5
B 4 4.0 4.0 4.0 4.0

I guess I need to re-apply - please confirm if that is not needed. Is there a fail in IELTS exam?

You can do better than that.
Get a minimum 6.5 band score, it helps with the overall points.

Hi ,

It depends which NOC you belongs to , if you are a doctor or banker or restaurant manager , you need to have atleast m6.5 bands .

As these are thè occupations requires good level of communication where as plumber can qualify with 5.5 as it doesn't require a lot of communication.

U need to score 67/100 points to get eligible for FSW1

you will get 4points in speaking and 2 points in Reading, in listening a writing you will get Zero...coz minimum
requirement is 5.5 to get 2 points in each

1122 is a managerial position and the VO will consider that you need good knowledge of English in order to perform this kind of job.

If you are applying for FSW - Canadian Experienced Class, the CEC requirements for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) are:

If you have qualifying Canadian work experience at Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A of NOC, your test results must match the CLB/NCLC above (see chart):
- 7 or higher for each of the language abilities, or
- 6 for any one of the language abilities, 7 or higher for any other two of those abilities and 8 or higher for the remaining ability,

If you have qualifying Canadian work experience at Skill Level B of NOC, your test results must match the CLB/NCLC above(see chart):
- 5 or higher for each of those abilities, or
- 4 for any one of those abilities, 5 or higher for any other two of those abilities and 6 or higher for the remaining ability.

If you are applying under FSW 1 or 2 program, here is the score chart for your points:

As you can see, there is no occupation/score chart for FSW 1 or 2, only for CEC. If you are applying for CEC, take another test.
