Got my BOWP approved without submitting AOR

Hi,
I am on a closed work permit until September 2014 (I am currently unemployed as I was laid off) and to be able to work again, I applied online for my BOWP on August 29th with a letter of explanation after receiving my AOR.

I know that it takes around 30 - 35 days to get a BOWP, and when I called CIC today they informed that CIC is now currently working on applications received on August 10th and it will be another 2 - 3 weeks before they will be able to start work on my application.

My question is that since my current closed work permit expires on September 2014 and keeping in mind this delay in processing my BOWP, will they only give me the BOWP until September 2014 or will it be given for 1 year (as the CIC website says) from the date of it's issue?

I am just afraid that this delay in processing my BOWP will only result in the eating away from my 1 year (by CIC regulations) BOWP duration time.

Please advice.

The BOWP is valid for 1 year from the date of issuance. So don't worry.

I have sent BOWP application to Vegreville, ON on Aug 6th and the file was arrived on Aug 12th ("thanks" to Canada Post making their best commitment to the 2-business-day priority shipping Xpresspost ). I just received AOR today but I had to send it in ahead since my OWP had expired on Aug 11th. Fingers crossed! Hopefully I can get the BOWP in about 2 months.

Hi guys,

I have a question. my PR under CEC is already in process and forwarded to visa office already, my question is, I applied for work permit for a specified employer 2 times, it was refused, this will be my third application, and I would like to know I can apply for BOWP, but the thing is my permit to my previous employer will expire august 2014, and I am already resigned to the previous employer, what should I do, apply for spefic employer(permit) or apply for BOWP?

No because otherwise the VO can't find yu to see if your AOR has been issued. You need your client ID - do you have a work permit that it would be on?

He has to have a work permit, otherwise he wouldn't qualify for BOWP or wouldn't even be
able to apply under the CEC class, as it requires 12 months experience in Canada, and you need a work permit for that.

Thanks for the update. I posted mine too without the AOR but with an explanation letter so hopefully I get the VO that did yours.

I believe that you only ever get given 1 client ID number...it does not change and it is on your Work Permit.

Hi All,

I have received my BOWP mail yesterday without submitting AOR. I am very relaxed now!
Although I submitted another application just before expiring my current wp with AOR which I'll request to cancel by calling CIC call centre.

Dates:
submitted BOWP online on 12th Sep
AOR received on 29th Sep
Onilne BOWP mail received on 18th Oct

One thing I noticed that they have changed my UCI(Client ID) on BOWP confirmation letter from my original UCI, Can anyone, who have received BOWP confirm if its the same for them as well?

Guys, be hopeful and write proper explanation cover letter while you are waiting for AOR, provide your UCI and if VO is in mood and also you have received AOR by time he opens your file, he will approve your application. All the best everyone.

Yeah my current visa has my client ID on there, thanks.
I've received my AOR today, so won't have to apply without one..
