Hello all,

well, it finally arrived today! We received a letter from the High Commission here in Sydney, Australia to say that we are in the final stage of processing and to please submit our passports and permanent residency fees.

Applied July 2009
Application processed in Nova Scotia September 2009
Details sent to local Australian Embassy Nov 2009
Medical request April 2010
Medicals carried out 23 April 2010
Medicals sent to Singapore 3 May 2010
Letter for passports 28 June 2010

Also just noticed that the letter says that the visas will be valid until April 2011, so they actually give us less than 1 year to stamp in.
In our case it's ok because we plan on visiting Toronto in January (middle of winter) before we make our final move.
This will give us the opportunity to get our SIN and set up a few things.

Any particular advise for preparing and facing Sydney interview from any of your known exp you might have..

We are in Melbourne.
We were not required to do any interview or IELTS testing, so it was quite straightforward for us. I'm sorry I can't give you any help with perparing for an interview, but I wish you the best of luck.

Just wondering why did you have to send ur medical to singapore? So far I can remember you described ur medical experience in this forum and as ur CHC is Sydney Aus, it supposed to reach there through Ottowa isn't it?

Hi Fariza,

the letter we got requesting us to do our medicals indicated that they were to be sent to Singapore by the doctor.
Apparently the Chief Medical Officer is based there and the Sydney High Commission waits for them to do their review and advise if everything is ok medically.
Perhaps this Medical Officer handles all cases for the Asia-Pacific region?? I don't know.
