Good day All. I seek for assistance to this important issue. Please help.

(1) I have received my CoPR (through Express Entry) through mail BUT I think I cannot prove my legal status in Canada for the last 12 months.
(2) Also, I am wondering which is the best way to validate my PR (airport, land, appointment with CIC)?

Details:
I live in Ontario from 2014 but my last work permit ended late 2016. From late 2016 I wasn't aware that I had to extend somehow my stay (I messed up). Also, I am not working from late 2016 until today. I have a valid passport, and a valid Ontario ID card.

How can I prove my legal status in Canada when the IRCC officer will interview me, while entering Canada?

Thank you

I live in Toronto, Canada from May 2014 but my last work permit (Young Professionals) ended Sept. 2016. From Sept. 2016 I wasn't aware that I had to extend somehow my stay. Also, I am not working from Sept. 2016 until today. I have a valid passport, and a valid Ontario ID card.

1. You don't have legal status in Canada.
2. Go to a border port to "flagpole" and then return to "land" by exiting Canada you wipe out the overstay. You can't "land" at an Airport, unless you are arriving internationally and an inland office probably won't "land" you with no status.

Dear PMM, I appreciate your kind reply. Thank you for your time.

1. Understood.
2. Flagpole to a border port or arriving internationally at an airport, you feel it's better?

Airport immigration won’t activate your PR unless you are arriving from outside of Canada. Unless you plan to fly somewhere outside Canada and return, that isn’t an option.

Thank you Buletruck.

So arriving internationally at an airport (let's say from Europe) will solve this issue?
