Hello.

So in short, my mother came to Canada with me as a visitor and we wanted to extend her stay, so we got applied for a visitor record. The visitor record came in a few days ago, and when I asked my CIC advisor, she told me I've supposed to apply for a new TRV.

I tried to apply for a new TRV at the CIC website, but it keeps directing me into apply for a visitor record... I'm guessing it's because I'm choosing the legal status (for my mother) as "visitor"? I'm not sure what to do.

I'd appreciate some help!

Thanks in advance.

A visitor record is correct to extend a stay in Canada.

A new TRV is required if she leaves Canada and wants to return.

It's the only way you're going to get the proper visa form, I believe. I believe it is what IRCC recommends that students in Canada who need a new TRV do.
