Got a Temporary Work Permit - Is Passive Income from Mobile Apps OK?

Hi all,
Great informative forum by the way. Thanks to everyone running and enriching iit. It's a veritable treasure trove of info ;D
I'm currently working - in Ontario, if it's relevant - with a TRV and am apparently LMO-exempt because I got hired though AIESEC for an 18-month gig in software development.
I like to make fun programs in my free time, and I've recently made an Android App that I want to put out there and see if it gets popular enough to earn me some extra $$.
I can launch it in one of two ways:
A ) set up a purchase fee to get the app ($2.99 for instance)
B ) make it available for free with some form of advertising on it to earn me $$ per exposure/click/whatever

My questions are:
1 ) Which of the two alternatives (if any) can I legally go for with my status?
2 ) If I do make a few $$ from the app, is there any fisc/tax procedure I need to follow for these earnings? Salary tax matters get handled by employer so I'm not sure what's involved in this case.

I'd appreciate any help, advice, experience sharing you could post my way

Wow, I get a response in less than 24h! Thanks PMM, that's a load off my mind.
Now all I have to do is cross my fingers and hope users like my app.
