Hi all,

I am thinking of flying back to the UK to drop my passport off in London in person as I already have a flight booked for 19th January and it would be a good opportunity to see my family. My plan is to pick my passport and visa up 2 weeks later on 3rd Feb and fly straight back to Toronto on 4th Feb to land.

I have been reading things about Goods Accompanying & Goods To Follow Lists that I would need to provide to customs when I arrive as a Permanent Resident. I have actually been in Canada since September 2009, initially on a visitor visa and then on a temporary work permit, so I already have everything I need over here with me, have never shipped anything and don't intend to ship anything in the future. I have only ever brought clothes over with me when flying between Canada and the UK as we have bought everything we need for setting up home here while in Canada.

This time I will only have a small suitcase of clothes with me - so I was wondering, do I need to fill out these lists? What exactly do I need to take with me when I land?

Thank you!
Suze

shouldnt think so Suze - Your gonna be taking a suitcase with you no matter what - I think its more in regards to you taking larger goods of which you would nomally have to declare at YYZ. At least thats my Understanding of it. Found a dirt cheap Surface shipper as well called Anglo Pacific - check em out if you ever need to ship large amounts .

YOu don't have to bring anything, you will just declare your clothes (if they really insist). Goods declared and being shipped is standard to ask as if you don't declare and you ship something and it goes through customs screening then you would be liable for any duty related. Hwoever when you are moving here (for the 1st time), most people will have loads of stuff coming on the plane (small boxes and stuff). Your personal effects are not subject to duty.

Thanks guys!! I figured this probably wouldn't apply to me really but just thought it would be best to check :)
