New operational manual released today: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2013/ob521.asp
Note, that all applications received prior to May, 3 2013 should be assessed based on either 2006 or 2011 NOC code designation whichever MORE FAVOURABLE to the APPLICANT. I suggest all those who got rejected due to changes between 2006 to 2011 NOC code (either wrong NOC code, or some similarities assesed as unskilled by new NOC definitions) to file an appeal citing this operational manual. cheers

How can you tell whether your NOC code is from 2006 or 2011?

Does it matter which NOC code you put in the application (2011 or 2006). Will they still assess you according to both NOCs?

They will assess it based on whichever one is more favourable to you - which is great !

Yes, because I put in the 2011 NOC (coz I thought I had to), but my actual job description is way closer to the 2006 NOC

Actually based on the link to the previous operational guidance in that bulletin they were already assessing applicants under whichever NOC (2006 vs 2011) was most beneficial to the applicant as part of transitional arrangements and will *stop* doing that for applications received after May 3rd.

/edit: Here is the link to the previous bulletin:

I saw a few cases here on the forum were immigration officers were not exactly following these instructions and rejected applications based on new NOC codes. So, given this new OP now - in case you are wrongly refused, you can use it to appeal. From May this year, as you have mentioned, NOC 2011 will rule but this is not relevant to the readers here who already applied or got rejected :)

Correct. But for those who are concerned who have applications already in, it will make things better!

BTW, this is just a guts feeling, but perhaps this kind of "beneficial" treatment for CEC applicants signals a change in CIC's "shoot first, check later" rejection policy? I am sure hoping so...

Putting myself in someone's shoes I really dont mind they shoot as long as they do really check later on.

I still don't follow at all to be honest, those people could already have appealed under the previous one that applied exactly the same criteria.
