If any one has experience pl share with me. I would like to stay in doha while traveling to Canada. From Doha to Toronto the flight is via Monteral. We can not land at Monteral first time as per my knowledge. But my flight will be up to Toronto. Question is this where will be my landing formalities completed at Monteral or Toronto. Is it will be complicated or easy to inform Monteral immigration authorities that I have to go to toronto and landing formalities will be completed there.

:D Hi,
If you have a ticket to Toronto there is no problem. If your travel to Toronto is in the same air craft you need not land. But if your connecting flight to Toronto is by Air Canada then from Montreal to Toronto is domestic flight. So you may be required to do the landing Immigration formalities and customs at Montreal airport. You will not face any problem there for such formalities. Show your connecting flight ticket to the Immigration officer. Wish you a happy landing.!!!

Dear wilson1

Hi! Thanks for your reply. Sir, I have come to know through this forum that a federal skilled worker can not land at Montreal when coming to Canada first time on his immigrant visa as Quebec (Montreal) has its independent program of immigration and they can't complete landing formalities of a federal skilled worker landing first time. For this purpose a FSW must have to go to Toronto. But, my destination is Toronto and connecting flight is by Air Canada which will be domestic. Now the question again arises Can I inform Montreal immigration authorities this situation easily or they can send me back to my country of origin.

Thanks sir i know these all connections but the cheapest is through Montreal so i was thinkin so.

:D Hi, no problem at all to ravel via Montreal. It is not a "no fly zone" for federal skilled workers. You should have an onward travel document that you have the ticket to Toronto.

You are required to complete the immigration at Montreal only because your further journey is domestic. There is no immigration at the domestic arrivals.

You need not cancel the ticket as it is giving you monitory benefit.
Please note that there were several immigrants from other provinces landed at Montreal.
Give an address and contact number in Ontario to the Immigration Officer while landing.

Good luck.
