Hello Everyone,

In the next couple of weeks, I and my wife will begin the process of sponsoring her for our future move to Canada, but before we start this I have a few questions regarding this.

For some background info: I'm a Canadian born citizen and my wife is a Filipina, we met and got married in Japan roughly 3 years ago. We are both still living together in Japan and planning to go with the Outland Sponsorship.

Now for my questions:

1. Would a Spousal Sponsorship be the best (only?) approach for getting my wife the proper status to live in Canada for the foreseeable future? Reading through a bunch of guides and posts I'm still not certain if there is another form of Application we are supposed to use instead.

2. Our original plan was for me to move to Canada in June and settle down while waiting for our application to process, but due to some recent changes, we've decided to stay together throughout the entire processing time.

My main concern with this is if I'm not in Canada to show we have a guaranteed place to stay once we do move, will this have a huge impact on our application? We are planning to stay with an aunt of mine when we do move, I also have more family living nearby as other accommodation options just in case. Will the fact that I have family living in the same city we plan to live in be enough to check off any accommodation criteria they might have for the application?

3. We have a good chunk of cash saved up and have already requested for a bank statement (Both Japanese and English copies). The money shown in the statement is in my wife's bank account. Would it be better if the statement is under my account or hers?

Those are all of my questions, for now, thank you to anyone who took the time to read and respond to them!

Yes, as you're married the spousal sponsorship route would be your best bet.

You can apply outland and stay together - you'll be required to provide proof of intent to return to Canada once your partner receives her PR - here's a couple of threads to assist with that:
You may find that they request additional proof later in the process but this is common.

3. We have a good chunk of cash saved up and have already requested for a bank statement (Both Japanese and English copies). The money shown in the statement is in my wife's bank account. Would it be better if the statement is under my account or hers?

The spousal sponsorship route doesn't have any financial requirements so this won't have any bearing. You can, however, show transfers between the two of you as extra proof of your relationship.
