Hi, I am looking for some information about going to Canada, I am a UK citizen and I have met this girl online we have been video chatting for a while and just recently she asked me to come out there.

She said I could stay with her, so a place to stay is not a problem, I am thinking of going with about $1000 Canadian dollars, my main concern is getting there and them not letting me in.

So could some one calm my mind down and tell me if there is anything I need as British citizen?

I think I am in love man, with this girl and I want to go the whole wide world go the whole wide world just to find her Haha. :p

She could be the one, so advice would be helpful, Thanks!

I took this from the Canada Immigration website:

To visit Canada, you must:

-have a valid travel document, such as a passport;
-be in good health;
-satisfy an immigration officer that you have ties, such as a job, home and family, that will take you back to your country of origin;
-satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit; and
-have enough money for your stay. The amount of money you will need can vary with the circumstances of the visit, how long you will stay and whether you will stay in a hotel or with friends or relatives. For more information, ask the Canadian visa office in your country or region.

you May also need a letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.

Please refer to this link for more info about what will happen when arriving to canada

Best regards Lover ;)

Definitely bring as much proof and be honest about your relationship as possible - otherwise they might think you're suspicious.

Right but what proof do I bring? I will have a return ticket, should I take a photos of her? her address?
Also the first week I am there I will be staying with her to get settled, then heading off travelling around Canada volunteering on farms for a roof and food, am I right in that I do not need a work visa since the work is voluntary?

Thanks!

It's tricky.. Best proof is the return ticket but you might get pulled into an immigration officer for further examination so bring things such as bank statements (maximum a week old) proof that you own a house or live with family, proof of job or letter from employer - so you can convince them that you're returning home. And the most important thing is: be honest with them explain them how you met online etc - see what I mean? I was in the kind of same situation as you but my bf visited me first but i had to explain everything in detail so better be prepared! Maybe call CIC about volunteering - I'm not too familiar with that! Good luck

Re: Going to canada for a month maybe 2 monthly

And just to note: it's an amazing way to meet someone that way. Just be prepared and don't act nervous - just fully explain your situation they like hearing the truth! :)

And yes have a piece of paper with her address and phone number in case they call her to confirm that you're visiting her too!

I have these visions of me getting to canada and them asking me why I am there, I will be like I am here for love haha it's the truth but it just sounds so out there you know.

Anyway thanks! You are right the truth is always the best, makes me less anxious about it now that I think about it.

They will definitely ask you what your purpose of the trip is so prepare that question whil you fly out! Plus you're an uk citizen so you shouldn't have too many problems. Another thing is pack for 2 months and not your whole wardrobe in case they check your luggage too - better be safe than sorry! And don't worry if you get sent into further questioning! I'm sure you'll be fine :)

Have you maybe considered to get a working holiday visa now you're wanting to work? That gives you a whole year of stay and you can work at the same time? That might save the hassle.. Something I would've done way before instead of traveling back n forth. Just a thought
