Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help me with these questions?

I'm married to a Canadian citizen and we have applied for my work permit + PR Card inside Canada. I still did not receive either of them but called CIC on Monday and they told me I will get my work permit with end of May and my Pr card in 9-10 months.

I'm considering to go back home for 3 months to work and see my family which I haven't see for over a year, but can I run into any problems getting back into Canada? and could that result in having to restart the process of my papers?

I saw somewhere on this fora, that if you don't have a Pr card, you can go to the Canadian embassy and get a travel ??thing?? so that I could re-enter Canada without getting into trouble? is that true or not?

If you have any information that would help me out, I would really appreciate it. Thank you

Yes - there's always a chance you might run into problems at the border when you try to return. And yes - if you cannot get back into Canada your inland application will be abandoned and you'll have to start the application process from scratch again.

The travel document that you're referring to is only for PRs who do not have a valid PR card. So you wouldn't qualify for one.

Unfortunately there's nothing you can do or apply for that will guarantee that you can re-enter Canada if you leave.

Yes, it could absolutely cause that. If you are visa exempt to Canada, you have a better chance of getting in but if you are not and have to apply for a TRV to go back to Canada, you may well find yourself refused.

Travel document is only for people who are already PR and do not have a PR card for some reason, lost, stolen, expired etc.
