Going back home ?

Hello,

I’ve gotten sick and I need to go back home to get some rest as Im unable to work and support myself. I applied to my citinzenship august 2020. If I go back home and update my address as my home address, will they still call me to do the test or will I risk losing my citizenship ?

Leaving Canada shouldn't be an issue. IRCC will still invite you for a test and an oath if everything is in order. Obviously, take the needed precautions regarding the current situation with covid, quarantine and all, as you can only pass the test/interview and have your oath ceremony in Canada.

Hello, my permanent residency is valid until March 2023. Would that be about time for me to get my citinzenship ? At the time I applied for my citinzenship I had enough days to apply, do they keep recounting it ? Or how does that work ? I’m not sure ?

The PR residency requirement is to have spent at least 2 years out of 5 in Canada.
Since you had enough days to apply for citizenship, you're good for now, but if your application drags a lot (I'm not saying it's probable, just a possibility), you'll need to make sure that, at any point, you would have spent 2 years in Canada out the previous 5 years. This is to say that you may have issues if you leave Canada today, never come back, and your application lasts another 3 years.

The citizenship physical presence is only about the 5 years before you sent your application, and that doesn't change, but being a PR is a requirement of the citizenship application, and that one may get problematic for very long applications.

Odds are, you'll have received your citizenship long before its an issue, but it's always good to know, as it's something that people who stay outside the country may face.
