I just want to get your opinion with our situation.

Me and my wife have been in a relationship before getting married for almost 6 years. In year 2015 when she went to US for a J1 visa. During that year our relationship went into a rough road, on and off relationship as they say. In year January 2016 We both decided for her to come over to Canada for us to make our relationship work again. During the time of fixing the tourist visa papers we were not in a relationship. So as one requirement, i sent an invitation letter and declared the relationship as friend because as I have said no relationship was going on that time. As to other relationships, there would always be a realization that both of you can't live without each other. Even without the final decision of her visa, we decided to get married. Just last April 2017 we were married. We don't want to tell lies because we know in the future everything will come out. Now we are worried because the immigration officer might think our relationship is fraud. Yet, we have pictures, messages and card within our 6 years of relationship to proove that our marriage in not arranged and fraud.

Not sure if this might help you, but when my now husband first invited me to visit him in Canada in 2015 in the letter he wrote "my friend", then a year later 2016 on the next invitation letter as we were now engaged he wrote, "my fiancé". I also sent a letter to Cic when we did the visitors visa that we were engaged to be married in December and the purpose of the visit was part honeymoon / part to visit his family and my visitors visa was approved. our pr application was sent in March and we were married in December 2016.

Although you don't specifically state, I assume that you are intending to sponsor her for PR, given the section of the forum this post is in. If you have never lived together for 12 consecutive months, thereby becoming "common-law" before you became a PR yourself, a narrative of your relationship development submitted as part of the PR application should clear things up for IRCC sufficiently.

I am already a PR and we are not a common law. I am just worried that they might thinkt that our marriage is fraud because of the invitation letter stating in the relationship as friend. Since the time I invited her to come, we are not in a relationship.
