Hi,

My uncle is gifting me the settlement funds and I'm placing it in a fixed deposit. I've inquired from several lawyers and they told me that it is impossible to do a gift deed for cash. What should I do? Please advice.

Cash??

If it is a bank transfer it will show in your account which you will show as POF. Against this entry you can show a gift deed

Yes. It's a bank transfer. But the lawyers keep telling that there won't be any validity of a gift deed since money didn't fall under property.

First he said it's gift deed for cash, now he is saying it's a bank transfer. He is not being clear.

He meant his uncle will give him cash through a bank account ;) I understood him

Yes that's what happened. I'm going ahead with a notarized self declaration from my uncle.

Does any one have a sample/template of how a gift deed should look like?

Can we get an affidavit instead of a gift deed?
visit a notary, give him the soft copy of the gift deed ( from the forum or Google, with your details) ask him to print it on the minimum value of stamp paper as applicable in your state. Donor and donee need to be present there to sign it. Also, get a witness or ask your notary to arrange for a witness.
The total fee involved is not more than 200 - 250 bucks.

Hey guys.......please I really need your help. I am got some allowance from my brother In-law in the United States. He wanted to send me the cash earlier but it was delayed due to some reasons beyond our control. I got my ITA on the last day of May and the cash just came in last week Friday. I am planning to get a gift deed from him but it is impossible for me to be there to sign the gift deed. Please, what can I do in this situation?
