I didn't even bother getting a gift deed, a self-declaration in plain paper + proof of transfer was sufficient.

Does the gift have to be from a parent only? Could it be from a sibling?

Siblings are perfectly fine.

It could be from anyone, as per the law. First degree relatives are preferred although several applicants have had no problems even with a gift from second degree relatives.

Do you personally know anyone who submitted a gift from sibling and got approved?

Yes. I know someone who submitted gift from his brother and faced no issues.
