I asked my bank (bank of india) for transferring of funds to nova scotia bank in canada for the GIC certificate but they said that they don't do wire transfers, they only do swift transfer.
so should i go ahead with the swift transfer only or should i go to a private bank and opt for wire transfer there?
What is the difference between swift and wire transfer?

Re: GIC query

same query, want to know if swift can be used from bank of india to send funds to the GIC account...please help

For an international wire transfer a SWIFT Code is required hence making it Swift Transfer. As simple as that.

You can use your existing BOI acc, just make sure the name on the account is same as it is the Passport.

Beneficiary Bank Information (Field 57)
THE BANK OF NOVA SCOTIA
BNS 03996- Front Street CAU, Toronto
61 Front Street West, 2nd Floor
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
SWIFT Code: NOSCCATTCOL

I hope this helps ya :)
