to be safe , you should send 10 180 $ as GIC funds , normally there are 3 banks involved in the transfering of funds . Each bank has a processing fee , so a set abount will be deducted by each bank during the process . if you have sent 10 100$ and lets say the second bank deducts 70 $ as processing fee , your gic funds will now come down to 10 030 $ and hence Scotia bank will not accept the funds . leading to refundment of the fee without having received any GIC certificate .

Hi every one

I am totally new to this forum and need some senior members to help me.
I will be making my GIC payment for 10100 $ tomorrow but i have a few doubts :

1) is it necessary to make the GIC payment from a account that is in my name, i will be actually making the payment from my mothers account.

2) Since the scotia bank says that they need 10100 $ how much should i wire transfer considering that intermediary banks will debit their processing charges as well.

Kindly help.

Thanks
