GIC for Egyptian Students?

Hi Everyone,

I am an international student from Egypt and I am in the process of applying for my study permit. I have got an offer from Seneca college. I have read on the immigration website that I can buy GIC (Guaranteed Investment Certificate) as proof of financial support. I have tried to buy one from Scotiabank but it is only available for a limited number of countries. Is the GIC program available for students from Egypt? Where can I buy one please?

I contacted VFS and asked them about this before i submitted my application and they told me that i can prove the financial support by submitting a personal bank statement of my parents or whoever is going to sponsor me and a proof of paying the first semester tuition fee, it is not required to have money in a Canadian bank when you apply, you will only need it after you travel to Canada.
The amount of money needed depends on your study duration.
