It is an indication that someone has reviewed your file. If no ADR has been requested, it means the file has moved ahead. I am not sure at what stage this GU happened, it could mean eligibility has been passed and background or security has been initiated.

Eligibility has been passed in September 2019 and Ircc told me that supposedly started security in October 2019.....

I got a ghost update today and it’s been on for 5 hours is this normal I’ve had two small ones before that lasted like 5 minutes but this ghost update is going on 5 hours. Is this good or bad ?

It is a glitch. I think IRCC is preparing for the new PR portal.

Same even I have got the first ghost update and it’s lasted for more than 5 hours. Don’t know whether it’s a movement on application or it’s a glitch. Seems lot of people have got ghost update today.

I’m hoping it’s not a glitch because they were post to do 6,000 last month 6,000 this month and 6,000 next month so I’m hoping that we’re the lucky ones. All one can hope for in this situation I guess.

Same thing happened, on Saturday, refreshed and my profile showed as Application updated, then bad gateway after going thru a few pages.

Edit: It just happened again as I was typing this. Application updated>>>long time to load>> Bad Gateway
