Hey all. I am so close to sumbitting our application to Canada. We are just proof reading over everything and organizing our package. I am canadian and my husband is Mexican. Now that we are getting closer I am getting negative thoughts in my head which most people I am sure do.

I am worried that our application will be refused due to age difference. My husband is 8 years older then me. Are they going to look at that as a red flag as not being genuine?

We have very strong evidence in our proof of relationship section

- about 200 photos (day trips, vacations, engagement, wedding, his family with my family, my husband with my family, me with his family and the list goes on and on)
- 4 support letters from family and friends (1 from my parents, 1 from his, and a few from close friends)
-Wedding evidence(programs, reciepts from my dress, rings, contracts etc)
-Communication screen shots (facebook, skype, whatsapp, text messages) I provided bits and pieces from each month since we have known eachother
-Facebook posts on eachothers walls
-Love letters
-Rental lease in both our names
-Joint credit card account

and the list goes on and on!

Am I being worried for nothing?? I have just heard people being refused due to an age gap!

Thanks in advance for your help and reassurance!

I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

My wife and I are 7 years apart. That's a-okay.

You're married. You have TONS of evidence. That's all they need to see.

You should sleep well tonight!

Thank you so much!!!!

I guess it is natural to worry a little bit!! The closer it comes to submitting it the worse it gets!! I could not imagine what the anticipation is going to be like waiting to hear if you have been approved or not!!

Cheers!

I'm 10 years older than my husband and I'm not worried. You have more evidence than me. :) I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thank you all!! Just some of the forums states they were denied because of the age gap... But I am pretty sure there was much more behind that! Cheers to you all!

I have heard of others approved despite a large age difference. My wife and I have a large age gap, perhaps very large, larger than others stated in this thread, so we provided as much evidence as possible, similar to what you are providing. A couple things come to mind. Any insurance policies with one naming other as beneficiary?? Boarding passes for travel visits together? Also, we provided 13 different letters for proof of GENUINE AND CONTINUING relationship. From family and friends from both sides. Do a very detailed Schedule A Background/Declaration providing extra pages as necessary. Write a solid letter providing a detailed timeline of your relationship. In our case we were married for 2 years before we sent our application in. In a relationship for 2 1/2 years before that.

I can only say, be very thorough and as detailed as possible in all aspects of the application and I'm sure everything will be fine. If your package proves to a stranger that your relationship is genuine and continuing, then you will be fine!

Our application is "in process" right now in the MCVO and we were recently asked for an updated schedule A to provide more detailed information for Question 8 and 12. Because we live together in Mexico right now we were also asked for evidence from the sponsor (me) of my intent to re-establish in Canada as well as a letter from my wife re her plan to reside in Canada. So we provided another kilo of detailed proof of our future plans to reside in Canada. We hope to have a positive result within the next couple months.

BTW, I look forward to seeing you in the Mexico forum here on canadavisa. I will be happy to add you to our timeline spreadsheet where you can track your and other applications in progress in the Mexico City VO. here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/mexico-t35385.12030.html

Best wishes and speedy processing!
