Hi everyone
I recently got my PR application approved in India. I will be arriving to Canada soon to complete the immigration process.

I saw this line this at a canadian immigration website. http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/goc/pr_card.shtml

"Since June 28, 2002, permanent residents arriving in Canada receive their first Permanent Resident Card automatically as part of the Permanent resident application process and the cost of the card is included in their permanent resident application fees."

does this mean that once I arrive at the international airport in Vancouver I will immediately get my PR card from the immigration officer at the airport or Do I have to apply for it and wait for 30 days for it to be mailed to me.

please advise

You have to wait for it to be mailed to you.

Do you think I can apply for it when I am in India itself.
Also how long will I have to wait ?

No, you will have to wait for it to be sent to you, it currently stands at 33 calendar days once you have landed

and the SIN Card.
If i need to work in vancouver I need the Sin card rite?
Do i have to wait till I get my PR Card to get a SIN Card ?

you dnt need to wait for your pr to submit for SIN. you get your SIN directly when you go to the Service Canada Centre and you well get a number directly. the card itself will be mailed later on but you can use the number without the card

First of all Congratulations
1. PR cards application will be filed at the Airport, and you should get them in the mail in about 30-35 days
2. SIN Card you will need to apply at Service Canada office, Sin number you will get right away and the cards come in mail 7-10 days

The PR card will only be mailed to a Canadian address.

I landed on a Saturday and visited Service Canada on Monday (downtown Vancouver) and obtained my permanent SIN - maybe 10 minutes wait and 10 minutes with the agent.
