Getting Thai Police Clearance for Filipino in Davao?

Hi,

My wife and i are in the process of applying for her Canadian visa, and trying to figure out just how to send off the thai police clearance application from Davao City in the Philippines (She's a native Filipino but stayed in Thailand for 8+ years). The thai police website just says to send a prepaid envelope, and the internet has so far suggested International Reply Cupons, and maybe an IEMS envelope, but the Post office in Davao will not give my wife either. They claim not to have any IRCs and say that there is no prepaid IEMS method...

Really stuck on what to do. We're trying to apply for this before I go back to Canada soon (can't afford to stay here for the whole visa application process sadly, already been here for three months).

I think it would be much better if you can give the Thai Embassy in Manila a call and ask them the requirements also before your wife goes there for her fingerprints. Maybe they can also guide you on which courier it to send it and how.

I called them today before I posted here. They said they could not help me, and had no information on postage. We got my wife's fingerprint cards already from the police service here in Davao.

I also called the Philippine embassy in Thailand after the thai embassy forwarded me there.

In the Philippines, its also a matter of who you talked too... sometimes the staff in the post office are not vey knowledgeble and would always say No if the service is very unusual. Make sure you talk to the right person in charge or the manager.

My wife did talk to the manager of the main post office here in Davao. Sadly they said no IRCs.

We might ask a friend in Manila to send us some. Might be the easiest way. Or we'll attempt to just send a check in US funds for postage and the fee..

Hi, I have some possible suggestions...

First off it would be much easier if your wife knows someone that is still currently in Thailand.
If so your wife and your self will have to do the following.

1. Written letter giving authorization on your wife's behalf to apply for the PCC (Police Clearance Certificate.)

2. Get a photo copy of your marriage certificate and have the Philippine DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) authenticate it. Also get your wife to photo copy the information page of her passport and have the copy authenticated by Phil DFA.

3. Go to the Canadian Embassy and get a photo copy done of the information page of your passport and have the Canadian Embassy authenticate it.

4. Each of you also need to sign your copies of your own passports.

5. Include a picture of your wife's passport size should be sufficient. Have your wife print her name on it sign it and put her date of birth on the back of it.

6. Find out how much it costs to send from The Royal Thai Police Office in Bangkok back to the Philippines. Using DHL.

6A. Need enough funds to cover from Police office to your friend then back to you in the Phil.

6B. Make sure everything is signed that should be signed.

6C. Your wife's finger print card.

7. Send funds by western to your spouses friend/family member preferably someone located in BKK (Bangkok)

7A Send everything to your friend in Thailand.

8. Family member or friend needs to have a copy of his/her passport and signed as well unless friend is Thai then requires signed copy of Thai ID card.

9 Go to the Royal Thai Police office in BKK if i remember right its located in the Silom area. (building number sorry I do not remember ) Apply on your wife's behalf and have the PCC sent to your friend in BKK and have your friend send it back to your wife by DHL to the Phil.

If your wife has no one in Thailand you would need to have everything sent to the Royal Thai directly plus including a payment sufficient to cover the cost of the PCC application and the cost to have DHL send it back to the Phil.

This may seem like over kill but trust me and I speak from personal experience the Thai's really like paperwork, and by covering yourself like this you should be avoiding any possible problems in trying to apply.

My wife actually had it a bit worse she was not permitted to apply for the PCC until I was there in person. (she is still a resident of Thailand, that might have had something to do with that stipulation.)

Also the reason for the PCC application have it written down for "Visa for Canada"

Others here may say all the above is not needed and just follow the website for the Royal Thai. ...My response is simple. The Thais will do what they want regardless of what is stipulated on their site. They like signatures, copies, authentications, photos, etc.

Try to use DHL as its fast and you have a tracking number. Using EMS goes through the postal system.

Thank you everyone for the tips and suggestions I received the certificate a week ago (forgot to update this thread, sorry!).

In the end we asked a friend of my wife's family to send us some IRCs from the main post office in Manila (man, she has so many friends and family in the Philippines, it was overwhelming )

We sent off the paperwork, some money for the processing fee (100baht or something like that), and way too many IRCs (like 7, even though it cost them a total of 84 baht to send. lol). It was sent off to canada on Jan 10th, and arrived about a week ago. Not too bad.

Now to finish up the PR application and send it off \o/
